INRIX

Problem

INRIX wanted to further engage users within the INRIX Traffic App. There was little incentive for users to add incidents/traffic alerts to the roads, which caused gaps in information for everyone else. How do we encourage our users to contribute more?

Challenges

The business requirements were fairly vague, leaving possibilities open-ended.

My Role

I worked on researching and structuring different potential features for the commmunity section.

Actions

  • Reviewed the personas and gained insights from other designers about the persona's behaviors and needs
  • Gathered requirements from lead and asked clarifying questions to refine scope
  • Created low-fidelity wireframes and prototypes to shared during design critiques
  • Refined wireframes to include visual elements based off INRIX style guides

Results

The feature was launched on the INRIX Traffic App in late 2016. This was one of the first steps for users to become more aware of the other drivers using the app.

Future Improvements

I wanted to investigate the ranking system and discover what else would motivate users to contribute more to the community.
